06-09-2025 Swim/Walks

Woke up fairly early, decent night's rest after an energetic day. I cleaned the kitchen and then replaced the tube in my Canyon rear tire before getting ready for a swim at the WWC. Was overcast and there were some wet spots on the roads. Nobody else was there when Heidi opened the gates, so I had the pool to myself at the start. Terry showed up soon after. I tried my Amazfit watch to track the workout. It provides a huge amount of data, but I still need to figure out how to pause it as well as finish the workout. I also had the camera on, and I ended up using it to determine the splits for the two 500s I swam, as well as a 50 at the end to make sure I got over 1000 yds. Here are the splits: 9:03, 9:07, 0:53. I definitely felt more sluggish on the second 500, particularly in my legs when I pushed off from the side. Was surprised that it wasn't slower than it turned out to be. I rode home and had some coffee while I tried to figure out more details about how to control the watch during a swim workout. It may be that the protective case I put over the watch face doesn't work minso well in water environments. During the day, I had put together a list of things to do. First, I worked some more on removing the leaves below the avocado tree. There are a lot of little shoots that I had to take out as well. Made progress on this work, but there is  After ER, Ann and I another session to do. That took about an hour. I then went to Home Depot to buy a replacement sprinkler for the back yard. A little trouble finding the rotary spray model, but I got it and rode home on the scooter. The installation went smoothly, and the new sprinkler seems to be functioning well. I also patched the hole in the inner tube and set it to dry. In the late afternoon, I went for a walk to get my steps in and to judge how well my new Amazfit watch tracks steps. It looks like this watch is not as liberal in adding steps, so I may need to rethink the idea of getting in 10k steps every day. I still didn't get to 10k steps after my walk, so after dinner Ann and I went for another walk around the block, and that did it. A little TV in the evening, which was quiet.
