Woke up (<>) and got ready, casually, for a bike ride. Intent was to ride a big loop that included Escondido on the way back and use it to pick up my phone from the cell phone repair shop. It was cool at the start but warmed up pretty quickly during the ride. I rode through the neighborhood and then up to Ralphs Ranch Rd in the 4S Ranch neighborhood before getting back to CdS. I took it to San Dieguito Rd and headed down into Fairbanks Ranch that way, taking El Apajo and Camino de Santa Fe up to VdlV. I rode up that little climb and then stopped briefly at the beginning of Stud Loop before riding it over to La Valle Plateada to get to Paseo Delicias. A right turn there to get to El Camino del Norte, where I turned left and took it to Rancho Santa Fe Rd. Was keeping a pace I would describe at moderate plus. I turned right on Rancho Santa Fe Rd and stayed on it through the right turn that led to San Elijo Hills. Turned right on San Elijo Rd and rode up to Melrose Dr, turning left there and adding a little distance to the ride. Then I rode up into San Marcos, staying on Rancho Santa Fe Rd all the way to Mission Rd, where I turned right. Had a little tailwind heading toward Escondido. I turned right on Woodland Pkwy and then left onto Barham Dr, again another little juke to add some miles. Did a final little juke by turning on Meyers Ave and taking it to Auto Park Way, adding in a couple of streets through this industrial area until I got back to Auto Park Way and then back to Mission Rd. Into Escondido, where I turned right on Escondido Blvd and then left on Woodward Ave to get to the cell phone repair shop. They weren't open when I got there, had to wait about 10 minutes or so before somebody showed up and opened the shop. She checked the phone thoroughly, I paid for the repair, and then I was on my way. Down Escondido Blvd to Fifth Ave, using it to get over to Centre City Pkwy, and then home the normal way over the freeway. First time in a while that I had an average speed of 17 mph.
Avg speed = 17.0 mph (17.0 mph). Total mileage = 45.9 mi
Avg power = 145 W. Weighted avg power = 174 W
Total elevation gain = 2570' (2860')
Avg heartrate = 117 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 48 (50)
Training Load = 183
Intensity = 79%
I just had a little time to shower, shave, and get ready for my volunteer shift at the hospital. It was steadily busy throughout, a fair number of room cleanings and helping with ED visitors. Finished close to on time and rode home, where I talked to Mom for a bit. She is looking to regulate her blood pressure better, which is a good thing. Evening was quiet, I took a short walk in the neighborhood to get my steps in.
