06-25-2025 Ride/Walk

Slept well, cat was annoying in the morning, which got me out of bed a little earlier than planned. Got ready for a ride, was on the road by about 6:45. Down by the park and over to Highland Valley Rd for a climbing workout. I took it easy on the flats and pushed harder on the climbs. On the descent towards Ramona, it seemed like I was riding into a head wind. I ended up turning left onto Rangeland Rd to see where it led. Rode for a couple of miles, including a short stop to eat a banana, until it started seriously tilting up, so I stopped there and carefully turned around. Reversed the route and rode home, going more slowly up the little climbs but enjoying the descents.

Avg speed = 15.2 mph. Total mileage = 29.8 mi
Avg power = 152 W. Weighted avg power = 186 W
Total elevation gain = 2600'
Avg heartrate = 118 bpm (Coospo)

Ate some cereal for breakfast, then caught up on blogging before I needed to get ready for my volunteer shift at the hospital. I also swapped in a repaired inner tube on the rear wheel of my Canyon. Second patched tube also looks good. Ann went to the beach, I had a shower and then headed over to the hospital for my shift, which was pretty consistently busy. I was a little worried that there wouldn't be enough to do, since there was another PathTaker volunteer, JoAnn, who was there for most of the time. But I was able to keep busy, no problem. A nurse, Greg, showed up later, who I haven't worked with much. He's short, stocky, and has dark hair. Seems nice enough. Got done with my shift, and I was quite tired. I had originally planned on going for a run after dinner, but that wasn't going to happen on this day. So I went for a shorter walk to get my steps in plus a little more, while Ann was talking to Laura on the phone. I watched some TV, including staying up a little later than usual to watch more.
