Had a quiet exercising morning for a change. I ate breakfast and did a little sprinkler repair work in the front yard before scootering over to Harbor Freight and Home Depot. I bought some round files at the former to use in sharpening the chain saw chain edges, and I got some miscellaneous pegboard hangers as well. At Home Depot, I bought a pop-up drain stopper for the upstairs hall bathroom as well as some drip sprinkler supplies. Later in the morning, Ann and I drove down to Ventura Cove in Mission Bay, and I went for a swim there. I wore my spring suit, which was fine for warmth but didn't seem as comfortable or buoyant for swimming. Swam two 500s (approximately), then rinsed off and met Ann at the car. I ended up swimming about 980 yds in 19:43, averaging about 2:00/100 yds. This workout seemed much harder than the previous one with the wetsuit, perhaps because of the buoyancy difference. I found myself, most of the time, having to breathe during every stroke, and I think that also slowed me down. When I finished, I wasn't quite as wobbly as the last time in getting out of the water and over to where I'd left my flip flops. I changed clothes, and we rode bikes over to the Boardwalk and headed north. We rode up toward north PB and then had lunch at Mission Baja Tacos, which is a pretty decent place with great horchata. Then we rode back, this time on the bay side, and added in a ride out to Bahia Point and back before packing the bikes into the car and heading home. When I got home, I got my old phone out and started charging and updating it, since I needed to use it while I took my new phone in to replace the charging port. Took it to a place in Escondido by Sushi Yama and dropped it off, since the service tech thought he would need a couple of hours to replace the board in the phone. I drove home and got ready to drive over to Lake Miramar for a run before meeting Emily at the house where she is dog-sitting Jerry and Odie. Drove over there instead of riding, to save time. It was warm when I got there, ran counter-clockwise around the lake, which meant running more into the wind on the second half of the run. I wasn't feeling super, seemed to be laboring a little but maintaining decent speed through the first four miles, each faster than the previous one. The last mile was hot, and I slowed down a little bit due to exertion and some overheating.
Avg pace = 7:17/mi
Total distance = 5.00 mi
Elapsed moving time = 36:27
Avg heartrate = 148 bpm (Amazfit)
I didn't wear my heartrate band, so heartrate wasn't sync'ed with the run data in Strava. Sat and recovered by the lake after the run, heavily sweating. Then I drove over to the house where Emily was, and she and I took the dogs out for their walk around the neighborhood. Nothing much discussed, but it was a nice cooldown time. We chatted a little further back at the house before I drove home and had a light dinner and a lot to drink over the course of the evening. Watched some TV, read some, mostly relaxed.
