Well, this was a mildly interesting day. Started off with a ride, heading through the neighborhood to Matinal Rd, the long way on Matinal Cir then turning right, and right again onto W Bernardo Dr. Intention was to fill this ride with lots of gradual climbing, mission accomplished. Up to RB Rd, then up that gradual hill and over to Camino del Sur, riding through the 4S Ranch neighborhood the short way. Then I rode out to Carmel Valley Rd, turning left there and riding up to Black Mountain Rd, where I took a right. Stayed on Black Mountain Rd into Mira Mesa, including the gradual climb up to Mira Mesa Blvd, then continuing on to Kearny Villa Rd and over to Miramar Rd, where I turned left. On the climb up Pomerado Rd, just around Ave of Nations, I thought I noticed a coin in the road, so I stopped and turned around to see what it was. Turned out to be a lot of stuff, some coins and bills, credit cards, a gift card, a Florida driver's license. I gathered it all up and rode a little further before stopping to call Amex and reporting that I had found somebody's card. They couldn't help me get in touch with the owner, so I kept riding on Pomerado Rd, going down the hill and eventually turning onto Poway Rd, to head over to the Sheriff's sub-station just before Community Rd. It was closed for the holiday, and after being put on hold on the phone outside for non-emergency use, I decided to keep going and call from home. Back to Pomerado Rd and home the normal way from there via the RB Rd and W Bernardo Dr route. On the gradual climbs, my legs felt really good, it's clear that my power base is improving. Not sure if I can ride faster, but I can ride fast for a longer time.
Avg speed = 16.9 mph. Total mileage = 34.5 mi
Avg power = 164 W. Weighted avg power = 188 W
Total elevation gain = 2200'
Avg heartrate = 127 bpm
I called the non-emergency San Diego police dispatch line when I got home and arranged for an officer to come and pick up the stuff that I found. Hope it gets back to the owner, but I didn't have a solid feeling that the police would reach out to her and let her know that her items were located. I also talked to Ann about not wanting to be her designated driver any more. New Year's Eve was not so pleasant, she seemed out of it and it made me upset. She said she's okay with that, let's hope it sticks. In the afternoon, I worked on the ride analysis program and made some improvements to it, including displaying power curves for a ride.
