Solo ride in the morning over to John's house, taking W Bernardo Dr and RB Rd to get to the normal route on Pomerado Rd. I was running late because both my watch and phone were low on battery and hadn't charged overnight as planned. I pushed the pace for a while but ran out of gas on the last uphill to his place. We continued on from his house, heading up toward the top of Pomerado Rd using our normal route. However, right by Cypress Canyon Park, I heard something snap and found out that John had broken his chain at a link that he had tried to reuse. So he was done for the day. Thankfully, there was a lot of coasting to get back to his house, and he decided to coast it instead of asking Vivian to pick him up. I stayed with him and we made it back safely. Then I cut my riding day short and rode back home the normal way on Pomerado Rd, taking Bernardo Center Dr to Duenda Rd to finish it off.

Went for my second volunteer shift in the afternoon at Pomerado Medical Center. Met Johnny (nurse), Arissa (admin support like Shannon, I think), Patty (housekeeping). This day seemed to go a little quicker, I did a lot more prepping of rooms than the previous week, and there weren't any patients in the hallway this time.
