01-28-2024 Entry

Final hourlong walk in the morning during my visit.  For the first time, it was cold during the walk, I wished I had worn my gloves.  I told Ross about the car before I went on my walk, including letting him know that I had bought the terminal end replacements but couldn't loosen the nut holding the old one one.  By the time I got back, he had gone to get his tools from his house and replaced the bad terminal end.  Problem solved, good news.  The three of us left for the airport around noon, and I got to the airport a little before 1:00.  Checked in and made it to the gate fine, but the flight ended up being delayed about 50 minutes because the flight crew was late on their flight in from Memphis.  I had a crappy seat, second to last row and middle seat with a guy next to me who was crowding my space with his leg.  Nothing to do but take it in stride.  I watched Mad Max Fury Road, which was mindless and violent but made the time pass.  I had made a sandwich at the lake house, and that helped to kill some time as well.  Then I watched the first episode of 100 Foot Wave on Max, which was much more entertaining.  The big wave surfers are a crazy bunch, I just can't wrap my head around the risks they take for the adrenaline rush.  Got into San Diego after a very smooth flight.  It took a while for me to get off the plane, but I walked through the terminal and was lucky enough to see Ann in the car as I exited the terminal, so no waiting.  We had dinner at Saffron Thai Noodles, it was pretty good (actually the leftovers were better after the spice set into the noodles).  Felt good to sleep in my own bed, after a generally successful family visit.
