I had originally planned on a little longer solo ride after finding out that John was down with the flu. But when I looked out at 7:30, the back patio was wet, and I got worried about getting caught in the rain. So I put my rain jacket on and decided to make it a shorter, slow ride. Headed through the neighborhood, taking the Capilla Rd route. Then I took RB Rd over to Camino del Norte, turning left there and heading toward Carmel Mountain Rd. I incorrectly turned onto Bernardo Center Dr but got it figured out pretty quickly. Then it was over to Rancho Carmel Dr, taking this road down to Sabre Springs Pkwy and staying on it all the way to Springhurst Dr. Over to Poway Rd, turning right and then taking Oak Knoll Rd to get onto Pomerado Rd. I took a break at the Chevron gas station on the corner, then continued on, following the reverse of the time trial route back home. Wasn't a fast ride, and it was nice to take a more measured pace for a change.

I rested up a little bit before heading over to take my volunteer shift at the hospital in the afternoon. I was able to keep busier on this day than previous times, probably because there were a lot of room cleanings that I ended up doing. Margie stopped by later on, she was meeting a new volunteer, Anton, who is a student and will likely be working in the evenings in the ED. On the way home, I stopped at Sprouts and got some stuff, including ingredients for the chocolate kiss cookies that Ann and I made in the evening. They were, of course, delicious! Best cookies coming out of the oven, when the chocolate kisses have had a chance to melt and are still warm.
