01-12-2024 Swim

Went for a swim in the morning at the WWC, going 2550 yds (I'm pretty sure I swam at least one extra lap above the 2500 yd target) and taking about 54 min to do it.  Arms were getting tired near the end, so I couldn't talk myself into getting to 3000.  Later, I had lunch with Hongwei at Viktor's Cafe, she is a little worried about long-term ink research prospects at HP.  Xi's company is doing okay but not turning into a blockbuster, and he is starting to think about what the next step might be.  Both of them are considering where they might end up next.  Audrey is doing fine at Princeton, her fall semester was tougher than she thought, so her GPA was lower than she was used to.  She enjoyed the summer excursion to Indonesia, wants to go abroad again this summer.  Lilian is happy with being at home, wants to stay at home while going to college as well.  In the afternoon, I installed a camera on my bike and will try to capture some video on the Bisikleta ride.  Cleaned it up a little as well, checked the batteries.  The other day, I also figured out how to remove the derailleur hanger from my old bike, it wasn't so hard.  Might end up taking it to Houston to get some rides in, we'll see.  I also went for a shorter afternoon walk around the neighborhood, to get my steps in.  In the evening, we had dinner with Jan Baer and her daughter Jennifer, as well as Emily, Caleb, and his parents at Cocina del Charro.  Was a nice dinner, food wasn't memorable but we shared some good memories and best wishes for Jan as she moves back to Ohio (near Finley).
