Woke up, had a little yogurt before starting my fast in preparation for the colonoscopy tomorrow afternoon. Then I got ready for a bike ride, where my intent was to focus on Zone 1 and 2 and keep it at an easy pace. I rode my old Fuji, to test out the shifting. It worked just about perfectly, no skips and just a little rubbing on the front derailleur in my lowest gear. It shifts quickly as well. I rode through the neighborhood to Poblado Rd, taking it over to W Bernardo Dr, right turn to RB Rd. I rode up by Dave's old house and then followed, for a time, a reverse of our old time trial route. Up Pomerado Rd to Ted Williams Pkwy, turning right and heading to Sabre Springs Pkwy, turning left and riding over to Poway Rd. Another left turn, taking it up to Midland Rd, where I turned left again. Didn't feel like climbing up to Espola Rd, so I cut out this corner by riding over to Twin Peaks Rd and taking it up to Espola Rd instead. Followed the route in reverse back home, including Bernardo Center Dr to Duenda Rd. It was nice to take such an easy pace on a cool morning, I was done before the sun got hot.

Once I got home, I mixed up the solution I'll need to start drinking this evening, and I also drank the magnesium citrate solution they recommended to get the process started. Then I went out in the front yard and cut back the two bushes by the garage, creating clearance for the house painters. I also trimmed the four bushes along the fence, accidentally cutting the extension cord in the process, which necessitated taking a pause and repairing the cord. Fix went fine. When I finished up, I did some calculations to see how long it had been before the first and second waxing of the chain on my new bike. It was about 650 miles, so my chain is due for another rewaxing, maybe tomorrow. In the late afternoon, I rode my scooter over to Karl Strauss and met Blair and James. I had a soda while they had beer and appetizers. I got more insight about James' upcoming decision to move to Boise. My thinking is that he will sign the papers indicating he plans to move there, then hope for some change that gives him the opportunity to stay in San Diego and work for HP. We'll see soon. After I got home, I started the colon cleansing prep. It wasn't awful, I think it helped that I had taken the laxative earlier in the morning, which cleared me out somewhat. I slept okay, waking several times to go to the bathroom. Wasn't super hungry but sensitive to food smells.
