Got up early and went for a run, loosely following the old 3.5 mile route that I used to run regularly. Started out slowly, legs a little stiff and feeling winded on the first uphill. But as the run progressed I got more into it and by the end was feeling good and in a rhythm.

Then Ann and I worked in the backyard to clean up the beds closest to the house some more. I chopped branches into littler pieces and also finished sweeping up the side patio area. Some quiet time after that, then we got ready to head down to Mission Bay for a swim (me) and bike ride (both of us). At Perse's suggestion, we parked at Ventura Cove. It took me a while to get ready, and when I got in the water I was a little surprised at how cold it was. I didn't have a wetsuit, just trunks and a long-sleeved rash guard. Once I dove it, it was okay, still cold but bearable. I swam out to the rightmost buoy and then swam across the line of buoys identifying the swim zone, then just beyond until I could stand up in the water. My head was cold, so I walked back to my backpack and got my swim cap out for the next two "laps." I had some trouble keeping the buoys in my vision for a straight swimming path, but it seemed to get a little better on the latter laps. Later, I estimated that I swam about 630 yds, although it felt like more than that. After the third lap, I was ready to change, so I met Ann and then rode my bike over to a restroom where I got into shorts and a shirt. From there, we rode over by the beach where we normally park, then we rode on the inside bay south until the end of the bay, then over to the boardwalk area, where we rode north for a while until deciding to have lunch at Olive Cafe. It was pretty good, a nice outdoor setting. We then rode over to the inner bay again and went a little further south and east before turning around and riding back to the car.

We drove home, stopping at the library on the way. Sometime during the day, I think it was here, I noticed that my front tire was flat, my patch hadn't properly held, so I changed it out. I did some other light duty chores, then got ready to head over to HP to meet Blair for a ride. I rode through the neighborhood, taking the Capilla Rd route, then took RB Rd to Via del Campo to get over to the site. Blair and I met up, he was just starting to feel normal again after a bout with COVID, so we kept the route simple and not too hard. Down W Bernardo Dr to Duenda Rd, taking it over to RB Rd and then up to Bridlewood Rd. Up that short little climb then onto Summer Sage Rd to get back to Espola Rd. We rode down to Twin Peaks Rd and took it to Camino del Norte, making decent time here, with the help of a little tailwind. There were threatening clouds off to the southeast, so that motivated us to keep moving. Back to the site the normal way from there. Once we got to the back parking lot, I heard thunder, and that was my cue to head home before getting into a storm. Home the normal way from there. My legs were pretty tired during the ride, but we didn't really push the pace too much.

Dinner after that, and I was glad to be done exercising on a busy day. I watched the first half of Guardians of the Galaxy, then read for a short while before going to sleep. I also started reading Mike Chen's A Quantum Love Affair, which is a time loop novel involving the explosion of a particle accelerator in the future.
