10-04-2024 Swim
Woke up around 5:30 and lazed around until heading out for an hour long walk through the neighborhood. I got back, had a quick breakfast, then headed over to the WWC for a swim. It was fairly busy, but I got my own lane. I started with a 250 wearing swim pads, then I did 5 100s at speed, resting up to the 2:00 mark before the next one. I did the first and last in about 1:40, but it was a challenge. I followed this with a 500 at tempo, finishing in about 9:20 (maybe earlier). Then I wrapped it up with another 250, slower pace, with the pull buoy and swim pads. Got gas before heading home, then it was work time to get the house ready for tenting. I taped the bags up, it took a lot longer than I thought. Then I packed my stuff, including important documents. Had a light lunch, wasn't so hungry. I put the aero bars on my old bike, it's always a chore to align the bolts into the holes. There was a lot of little things that needed to get done before we left, and I was getting tired. Finally the car was packed up, including my bike, and we had to get the cat in the carrier. It was awful, she scratched and bit my wrist. But we got her in on the second try and drove to Pacific Beach, where our Airbnb was. It's a studio on Ingraham St, lots of street noise but otherwise OK in a pinch. We'll be here until Tuesday, when the house should be cleared to return. In the evening, after an eventful day, we drove to a trolley station and took the Blue Line to UCSD, walking from the station (after a walk around the campus) to the Epstein Family Amphitheater. We saw Aiofe O'Donovan perform live with her trio and the La Jolla Symphony and San Diego Youth Choir. It's a nice venue, we had great seats for the price we paid. The acoustics weren't great for this combination, had some trouble making out her lyrics. The concert was nice, not great but a good evening that ended by 9:00, which was a plus on this long day.
