Woke up early and well (<>!), then I got ready to take the car over to Jesco to have them diagnose the warning light that came on on Monday. I drove over there with my bike in the back and got there around 7:45. Waited until a little after 8:00, when one of the mechanics opened the office and left me drop the key off. Then I got my bike out and went for a ride. Headed north on Escondido Blvd until I turned left onto Valley Pkwy to get to Centre City Pkwy. I started this ride at a modest pace and determined not to go hard. Rode up to Country Club Ln and used it to get over to El Norte Pkwy. Then I rode east and turned right at Rose Ranch Rd, with a couple of little climbs before I turned right onto Mulberry Dr and took it over to Olive St. Left turn to get over to Twin Oaks Valley Rd, where I turned left and then turned left again soon after to stay on N Twin Oaks Valley Rd. I think this road was recently paved because it's in good shape is is a nice road to ride on. It has a gradual climb of about 1.5 mile, then a really sweet, sweeping downhill for another 1.5 mile. I was hoping I could get over to Gopher Canyon via this route but no luck. There was a gate across the road by a rock quarry and no easy way to bypass the gate. So I turned around and rode back up the climb and then down the more gradual descent to Twin Oaks Valley Rd. I stayed on it (had a short break where I ate a granola bar), slightly downhill and nice pace, until I got to Borden Rd, where I turned right to get some more miles in. Up the climb behind Palomar College, then a short descent to Las Posas Rd, which has another slight descent to get to Mission Rd. I turned left and had the benefit of a tailwind helping me, or at least it felt that way. Was feeling good on the bike in this section. Back to Washington Ave, taking this turnoff and then using Tulip St to get over to Valley Pkwy. I rode up to Quince St and took a right, riding to 13th Ave and using it to get back to Centre City Pkwy. Home the regular way from there, again it seemed like I had a tailwind helping me along as I was heading south. I made really good time on the last section.

I had some coffee and coffee cake when I got home, took a little bit of a breather, then I walked around the yard looking for damage to the drip sprinklers from all of the recent work on the house. I repositioned some of the lines in the back, spliced two lines together than had gotten cut, and put some drip buttons back on the lines. In the front yard, next to the house, there were at least four lines that were damaged and which I replaced with the adjustable sprayers. I did some weeding out in the front yard as well, then called it a day for yard work. I still have to take a look at the sprinklers in the back beds near the house, so probably more work will be needed. In the late afternoon, Emily stopped by and gave me a ride to Kit Carson Park, where we met Caleb and went for a 2-mile hike around the park. Nice discussion, a lot of talking about cats, including Max's continuing issues with crystal formation in his urine. Then Emily dropped me off at Jesco so I could pick up the car and drive it home. I ate some dinner when I got home and called it an evening.
