It was overcast when I woke up. Had a little bit to eat, replaced batteries on the outside thermometer and on the garage door opener for the car. Then I got ready for a bike ride, intending generally to ride north. It was foggy at the start and a little bit cool. I rode down by the park and over the freeway, then took BVP to Sunset Dr at steady pace, not intending to ride hard on this day. Up the little climb there and over to Escondido Blvd, using it to get to Felicita Rd. Over to Centre City Pkwy, which I took into the city, turning left on a whim onto Mission Ave. I rode up to Vineyard Rd, turned right and took Woodward St to Borden Rd, turning left there. Over to Twin Oaks Valley Pkwy, turning right and taking this road with a 1% grade north. It was a chore working against that slight uphill. I took the road up to Deer Springs Rd, getting a PR (9:51, 183 W, 128 bpm) on the little climb before the freeway, which isn't too bad although there isn't much of a shoulder to ride on. It was foggy at the bottom of the climb and clear at the top. Over to Centre City Pkwy, turning right and taking it all the way back through Escondido, where the sun was out. I rode back over the freeway, and as I did it became more overcast, so that it was cloudy when I got home. Nice little 30 mile ride.

Ann was gone shopping when I got home, so I finished watching an episode of Endeavour and had something to eat. I was able to be leisurely about getting ready for my volunteer shift, had a shower and a shave and ate some lunch. The shift at the hospital was unremarkable, saw Margie training a new volunteer, Jocelyn, and I talked very briefly to the morning volunteer, Aubrey, who is planning to hike Mt Kilamanjaro in January. Wow! The shift was slow at the beginning and quite busy in the middle, then slow again at the end. The supply room was closed off as they worked to clear out the effect of a water leak. The hallways were crowded with all the stuff that normally goes in the supply room, and several of the ED rooms were also closed off as a result of the work. Quiet evening.
