12-13-2024 Entry

It was a leisurely morning for a change. No exercise in the morning, knowing that the next day's ride was going to be a strenuous one. I wrapped the gifts going to the kids in need and that was about it for anything useful. Later in the morning, Ann and I drove over to the new Amazon Fresh, where I dropped off a couple of return items (including the faulty rear view mirror and the Roku I originally intended as a white elephant gift) and we did some shopping. The store is unremarkable, but the coupon system is broken and it was a minor mess to get our discounts when checking out. We stopped at Staples while out and Ann dropped off her Amazon return package, then it was home. I showered and rode over to Charm Thai Kitchen to have lunch with Blair before he moves to Boise. He was positively bubbly about all of the good things that this move will enable. Not too much action on his house, and he had a minor issue with moving his pool table, but things generally appear to be going well. I'll certainly miss him after he moves, he's a good dude. Rode home, Ann was gone to play Mah-Jongg, so I had a quiet afternoon. I rode over to Karl Strauss a little after 3:00 and had a beer with the Brewskis. Talked a little bit with Avi, who is working through issues with his Mom and a recent hospitalization. I also talked with a nice guy, Mike, who is a retired machinist. It was a nice hour, then I stopped at the store, got some salsa, and rode home. When I got there, I realized that I still needed more steps, so I went out for an evening walk. When I got home, the rest of the evening was quiet.
