12-18-2024 Ride

I took my time getting up, thinking I wanted to wait until it warmed up. But we had Santa Ana conditions, so I ended up leaving around 7:30. This was going to be a short ride, knowing I was riding with Pat the following day. Through the neighborhood and then the extended way through the 4S Ranch neighborhood to get to Camino del Sur. I took this road all the way to the 56 bike path, turning left onto the path and taking it past Black Mountain Rd to the next turnoff, which got me on a road that connected to Paseo Montalban. I then rode to Black Mountain Rd and headed toward home. Up to Carmel Valley Rd, staying on it to Bernardo Center Dr. To W Bernardo Dr and home the normal way from there. I rode at a faster pace than the previous day but was still relatively slow.

Avg speed = 16.3 mph. Total mileage = 23.2 mi
Avg speed (calculated by my analysis program)  = 16.4 mph
Avg power = 149 W. Weighted avg power = 178 W
Total elevation gain = 1540'
Avg heartrate = 126 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 40
Training Load = 97
Intensity = 78%

Got back home with time to relax before I needed to get ready for my volunteer shift at the hospital. It was warm and dry, so the ride over was nice. Quite busy in the ED, most beds were full, including the hallway beds. There was also a lot of turnover, so I cleaned up a bunch of rooms. It kept me busy, so the shift passed quickly. Home to an empty house, Ann was at Coronado. I ate dinner and snacked a lot, was very hungry. I watched the end of a movie, that was about it for the evening, other than packing for our short visit to Irvine.
