12-11-2024 Ride

Woke up, and it was cold and cloudy outside but forecast to warm up. I got ready for a bike ride, not too bundled up. Through the neighborhood, it was about 10 degrees warmer in 4S Ranch than it was at home when I left. I rode the straight shot to Camino del Sur, turning right there and heading toward the coast. Another moderate pace ride, not going all out but trying to stay consistent. I rode over to Carmel Valley Rd and turned right there, taking it to Del Mar Heights Rd, where I took another right. Up the gradual climb, then down to Carmel Canyon Rd, where I turned left and took it over to Carmel Country Rd, another left there to get to the 56 bike path. It was a little colder riding by the creek, down to the end of the bike path and then over to Carmel Valley Rd. I took it to PCH, turning left and intending to have a go at a PR on the inside route of Torrey Pines. But once I got started, I felt the effects of the longer run on the previous day and knew it wasn't going to be a fast climb. So I took it steady to the top and then rode down the outside route and back to Carmel Valley Rd. Returned to the 56 bike path and this time took it back to Camino del Sur, steady on the pace but not slowing down too much. From there, I rode to Paseo del Sur and turned right, taking this route through the Del Sur neighborhood to get back to Camino del Sur. Home the new normal way from there, my legs were feeling tired at the end.

I got home with a little over an hour before I needed to head to the hospital. Had some lunch, took a break and a shower, then rode over. This shift was busier than usual, the pneumatic tubes for sending samples to the lab wasn't working, so I walked a lot of them over to the lab and logged them in. Also helped an old guy up to see his wife in the hospital and then back to his car in the parking garage. The ED is still messed up from the work on the supply room to repair the damage from the water leak. Rode home in the dusk and had a quiet evening.
