03-13-2025 Run/Walk

Good night's rest, with a relatively short reading period in the early morning. No congestion but a little dry throat. It was comparatively warm and clear when I got up and went out for a walk with periodic intervals of slow jogging. Headed over to the coast and then walked/jogged east for a couple of miles before turning around and heading back the same way.

Avg pace = 12:56/mi
Total distance = 4.03 mi
Elapsed moving time = 52:02

Got back, and it was a leisurely prep for our big travel day back. Had a shower and a shave, packed up while Ann went to a bakery and brought coffee and pastries back. We walked to a 7-Eleven to charge our Suica cards, hopefully for the last time, then to a monorail station for the first leg of the trip. Then it was a long train ride through Yokohama to a transfer station to get to Narita Airport. The second train was some kind of local, took 1:45 to get there, which seemed interminable. As if that wasn't slow enough we caught the true local train to Narita, it seemed like it stopped at every station. I was glad we left as early as we did, since we got into the airport a little before 12:30. Through check-in and security smoothly, so we had lunch (Ann found a place with vegetarian options) and got some food for the flight at 7-Eleven. The flight itself was long in that I didn't get very much sleep, uncharacteristically. I watched the latest MI movie again, then finished the last episodes of The Queen's Gambit. The storyline and plot in the last couple of episodes was predictable and a little too perfect for my taste. Finished the last episode with just a little time left in the flight. We got off the plane and then quickly through customs using the Mobile Passport Control app. Waited about 15 minutes for the shuttle back to the Embassy Suites where we'd parked our car. The drive back was exhausting, as I was tired and the weather was overcast and rainy most of the way, at times heavily. Got home, was glad to be there, unpacked and made sure to back up my trip photos. Then I had a little nap, felt much better afterwards. Ann got groceries and we had a light dinner and a quiet evening.
