03-27-2025 Ride/Hike

Had an uneven night sleeping, clearing out congestion by coughing a lot. I got ready for a bike ride when I got up. Not intending to ride hard, just moderate pace and slowing on climbs. Headed through the neighborhood and out RB Rd to Camino del Sur. Down to San Dieguito Rd descending to the flats and over to El Camino Real. Left turn there and up into Del Mar Heights. That was a slow, steady climb, followed by the gradual descent to the 56 bike path. I took that back to Camino del Sur, then rode home the normal way via Carmel Valley Rd.

Avg speed = 15.8 mph (16.0 mph). Total mileage = 32.1 mi
Avg power = 130 W. Weighted avg power = 164 W
Total elevation gain = 2020' (2200')
Avg heartrate = 124 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 51 (54)
Training Load = 121
Intensity = 75%

Got home and got ready to go to El Plantio to pick up a peach tree and some vegetables for the garden. I talked to Ben when I got home, he was animated again and I had to push back. I think he took the feedback okay. I ate some food and then headed over to Andy's house to go with him to Lake Poway and hike up to Potato Chip Rock. The hike up went smoothly, he was slower but I waited for him at various times. It took us around 90 minutes to get to the top, where after a short while we had the space to ourselves. We had a snack, then headed back down, with me and Andy descending at the same pace. Got back home around 5:40 and called Mom to hear her thoughts on the Visiting Angels care she is receiving. Call went reasonably well, then Laura and I talked about Joe's current situation, which is a little dicey. He has a good lead on a finance position job but it looks like he's not going to get tenure. We talked about that as well as John Stanton's passing. After the call, I had some lasagna and then called it a night after a long day.
