03-16-2025 Ride

Woke up quite early, still battling jet lag effects, so I watched a couple of episodes of the original Daredevil series. It promised to be a clear day, which meant that it was colder in the morning. So I waited a little longer than usual to go on my bike ride. Headed down by the park and across the freeway, taking the back way behind the mall and through Kit Carson Park to get to El Ku Ave and Escondido Blvd. I tried to maintain a steady pace but knew it would not be as fast as previous times, as it will take me a while to get back into cycling shape. Up to Citracado Pkwy and then over to Centre City Pkwy, taking this through town and turning left on Washington Ave, right on Quince St, and left again on Mission Ave. Headed into San Marcos, eventually using a pedestrian walkway to get directly onto Twin Oaks Valley Rd. This initial stretch went faster than I thought, there isn't much of an uphill gradient here, just enough to matter. I took this road to Deer Springs Rd and then up the climb to I-15 and across. From there, it was a straight shot on Centre City Pkwy all the way back through Escondido and using the normal route via the freeway to get back to W Bernardo Dr. A little painful for the last two climbs, but they're short. Legs felt good at the end, not so tired from the previous day, which was a little surprising to me.

Avg speed = 16.7 mph (16.9 mph). Total mileage = 30.6 mi
Avg power = 144 W. Weighted avg power = 162 W
Total elevation gain = 1240' (1530')
Avg heartrate = 120 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 35 (37)
Training Load = 111
Intensity = 74%

Ann was still in bed, asleep, when I got home. She is having a lot of issues with jet lag as well as a nagging cough that she can't shake. I ate some lunch, cleaned up some vacation photos on my phone, and eventually went out into the back yard to continue weeding (for about an hour).When I went back in, I decided to set up the second security webcam in the garage, so that it can view the car and my bikes. It all went pretty smoothly. I also ordered, on Amazon, some additional cables, plugs, and a new power bank to use in general and in particular for the security webcam in the house. Quiet evening.
