Woke up a little early after a late night, went down and had some cereal for breakfast, cleaned the kitchen. Then I decided to go for an hour long walk around the neighborhood. Had some more to eat after I got home, went out while it was still cool and took down the shade covers over the garden beds (I ended up having a tiny lizard get in the hood of my jacket and reside there for a while until it startled me when I was in the kitchen). Ann had left for church, I made some smoothie and watched TV. Before that I talked to Ross to get a update on her reaction to the medical alert system. Seems she was more on board with it today, a good sign. I also started up a list of things to buy on Amazon. I logged on to LinkedIn and gave Avi Yagur a recommendation for his next position. Then I read for a while before deciding to go out for an easy-paced ride. Through the neighborhood and then through the 4S Ranch neighborhood to Ralphs Ranch Rd, then Paseo del Sur to Del Sur Ridge Rd back to PdS. Down to CdS, taking it to Carmel Valley Rd. Left turn and then up to Black Mountain Rd. I took this down to the 56 bike path and headed east to Rancho Penasquitos Blvd. Left turn and then a quick right onto Carmel Mountain Rd. Up that moderate climb and then down the hill and across the freeway. I rode to Camino del Norte and turned here to get on the time trial route, following that home. Was largely successful in keeping my effort level down, but it was still a workout, in part due to the moderate heat.

Read some more and had a short nap after I got back. The rest of the afternoon and evening were quiet, nothing major to report. I finally finished The Bee Sting. It was a sad book with an unresolved ending that left me wanting to know how all of the family members' lives were impacted. Started reading Samantha Harvey's Orbital, which won the Booker Prize for fiction.
