10-13-2025 Ride

Woke up hungry in the middle of the night and ate a bowl of cereal, then read for a whole before getting back to sleep (<!>). Started updating my 2025 Event Log, then got ready for a ride with Joe. I rode my Canyon for the first time in a while, over to the Via Rancho Park & Ride, met him there, then we took Beethoven Dr to BVP and headed north. All the way to Glenridge Rd, turning right and taking it up to Citrus Ave. We turned left and rode back to BVP, took it to Valley Pkwy and turned right to get to El Norte Pkwy. It was overcast for nearly all this ride, and there were times I thought we might get sprinkled on. We rode to Borden Rd and turned right onto Rose Ranch Rd, which has a short, steep climb before a nice descent. Onto Mulberry Dr, taking it to Olive St and turning left to get to Twin Oaks Valley Rd, where we turned right. I was riding pretty slowly for the most part, legs noticeably sore from the previous day. We rode out to TERI, stopped there for coffee and a long conversation, much of it about our Europe trip and some about Lindsey's new job as director of admissions at a private school near their home. Rode back on Twin Oaks Valley Rd at decent pace to Barham Dr, taking it to Mission Rd and into Escondido. Washington Ave to Hale Ave to Tulip St to get back to Valley Pkwy, turning left and riding to Quince St, where we made a right turn. Over to Ninth Ave, turning right again and then left on Redwood St to get over to Felicita Ave. Right turn, following it to Via Rancho Pkwy and back to the Park & Ride. Home the normal way across the freeway for me, on tired legs and into a headwind, so it wasn't fun. This ended up being about seven miles longer than I had originally intended, I was glad to be done.

Avg speed = 15.2 mph. Total mileage = 37.7 mi
Avg power = 118 W. Weighted avg power = 136 W
Total elevation gain = 1630'
Avg heartrate = 102 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 24
Training Load = 109
Intensity = 62

When I got home I had some lunch and watched a little TV, including an episode of Foundation. I dozed briefly during that episode but was successful in avoiding a nap. In the afternoon I changed the oil in the scooter, then I finished updating the Event Log. That takes a lot longer than you would think.
