10-31-2025 Run/Ride

Woke up after not a great night sleeping, in the office bedroom since Ann's arm was hurting from her COVID shot. She got up early, I got up after 6:00 and got ready for a run down around the park. I started out a little faster than the previous day and continued with negative splits for four miles. Legs felt okay during the run, still not really pushing the pace and focusing instead on form and building back some endurance.

Avg pace = 8:15/mi
Total distance = 4.21 mi
Elapsed moving time = 34:46
Avg heartrate = 126 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 11

Later, my right glute was a little sore but not painful. Got home, relaxed for a bit, then got ready for a bike ride, again at fairly easy pace and relatively flat. Headed down by the park and across the freeway via the pedestrian bridge. Then it was on BVP all the way to Valley Pkwy, taking a measured pace all the way but trying to stay in Zone 2 as much as possible. Over to El Norte Pkwy, taking it all the way down to Broadway. I'd thought about getting a donut or pastry on the ride, so I turned left and headed towards town. Eventually decided against stopping. Rode to Grand Ave and used it to get to Escondido Blvd. Left turn there and out of town that way, taking the route through Kit Carson Park to Del Lago, where I turned right and rode to the freeway. Home the normal way across the freeway, taking it slow up the last two climbs. Was a little faster than I expected, but it was a flat ride overall.

Avg speed = 16.4 mph. Total mileage = 21.0 mi
Avg power = 130 W. Weighted avg power = 148 W
Total elevation gain = 840'
Avg heartrate = 114 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 17
Training Load = 61
Intensity = 67%

Later in the morning I rode over to Genki Sushi, where I met folks from HP to wish Thanh well on her last day. Talked mostly with Thanh, Rima, Anna, and Dan. I feel badly for them, particularly the latter three. Lunch was decent, was nice to catch up with them. I headed home after that. In the afternoon, I worked on a Python program that will let me display multiple GPX files in an overlay. Made progress, should be able to get it running within a day or so. Later, I got a text from Avi inviting us to a Halloween Sushi party at his place. I was pretty sure Ann wouldn't want to go, but she surprised me by being open to the idea. I found our old Halloween costumes in the office closet, and we decided to go. Made some stir fry rice and vegetables, and I ran to the store to get wine and beer to take with us. The party was nice, not so many people I knew. But the food was good, and we chatted with a guy, Charlie, who was into horses (his daughter rides with Katya), and it was pleasant enough. We left on the early side, Ann was ready to go, and I wasn't too far away from her. Drove home, and I watched some TV before going to bed.
