10-21-2025 Ride

Felt the effects of a short nap and some caffeine from the previous day, woke up around 2:30 and had some cereal, then read for a while before getting back to sleep. Woke up around 5:30 (<!>), got up and got ready for a donut ride. Headed to the HP site the normal way, to Bernardo Center Dr, turning right and taking it and Carmel Valley Rd over to Black Mountain Rd. I wasn't slacking off on the climbs but also wasn't going all out. So, medium pace. I took Black Mountain Rd to Kearny Villa Rd and stayed on it until it turned into Ruffin Rd. Over to Clairemont Mesa Blvd, where I turned right and stopped at Sunny Donuts for a donut break. They were decent, nothing special but not bad. Then I rode west to Kearny Villa Rd, turning right and starting to head back. Rode back to Miramar Rd and took Pomerado Rd up the hill until turning left onto Avenida Magnifica for a change. The climb wasn't super steep, but it seemed like I climbed more than if I'd stayed on Pomerado Rd. Up to Scripps Trail, turning left onto Semillon Blvd to get over to Spring Canyon Rd. This eventually dropped back to Pomerado Rd, where I rode downhill and over to Metate Ln, turning right there to get some more mileage in. Up to Community Rd, turning left there and riding over to Twin Peaks Rd. Heading north, I think I had a little bit of a tailwind helping me along. Back to Pomerado Rd, taking it to RB Rd and turning left. I stayed on this road up to Matinal Rd, turning there and riding back home through the neighborhood. Legs felt fine, no soreness or obvious tiredness at the end. Weather was ideal for riding, overcast for the most part and nice temperature.

Avg speed = 15.9 mph. Total mileage = 39.8 mi
Avg power = 129 W. Weighted avg power = 161 W
Total elevation gain = 2300'
Avg heartrate = 121 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 57
Training Load = 148
Intensity = 73%

Had a light lunch when I got home, watched some TV as well.  In the afternoon I finally installed the second outdoor Tapo security camera, facing the front door and attached to a solar panel so I don't have to replace the batteries. Went fairly smoothly. Ann cut my hair as well, and in return I made chocolate cookies with chocolate icing. They also turned out well. I looked at the estimated mileage on the chain for my Fuji bike since it was waxed, and it's time to swap the chain out. About halfway to the mileage to change the chain on my Canyon, and this time I think I will install one of the new chains I bought.
