12/10/2025 Walk
Slept okay, a little jittery in the evening from too much caffeine at lunch <!>. I made a simple omelet for breakfast and then had to rush a bit to get to the Transit Center to catch the bus downtown. Made it okay, got to the waiting area outside the courtroom around 8:45, so this schedule would seem to work okay. We were only in the courtroom long enough to be sworn in as jurors and to start the process for selecting alternates. Ran out of people in the jury pool, so the judge put us on a 4-hour break while they went through the selection process for the alternates. So, I was stuck downtown. I ended up walking over to the Broadway Pier and then down along the boardwalk to Seaport Village, then cut through the Gaslamp Quarter to get back near the courthouse. I stopped at a nearby 7-Eleven to get my free Slurpee, then walked back to the Jury Room, where I ate my lunch, read for a while, and lightly dozed. We weren't let back into the courtroom until around 2:00, after which the judge read pre-trial instructions, pretty boring stuff. Then the lawyers made their opening statements, which was an interesting introduction to the case. First witness called and direct examination begun before we ran out of time. Home via the bus, two of the other jurors are taking the bus from the same Transit Center as me. Dinner, then I talked to Ross for a while before Ann and I headed over to Perse's house to pick up tables and chairs for the party. I watched some TV, not able to pay full attention because I was sleepy. Then to bed.
