12-22-2025 Swim/Run

Had a somewhat restless night sleeping. Got up a little after midnight and ate some cereal, then read for a while. Eventually got back to sleep but was waking and sleeping in the morning before I got up. Got ready for a swim at the WWC, cloudy and the fog was just starting to clear when I rode over. I swam 1500 yds, the last 500 with a pull buoy and my swim pads. My focus in this workout was not on speed but on keeping my stroke count down by lengthening my strokes. I was largely successful. The swim pads and pull buoy really help here, I was consistently around 16-17 strokes/length in the last 500. Here are the splits: 9:34, 9:50, 9:38. Total elapsed swimming time of 29:02, not counting the minute it took me to put my swim pads on.

Avg pace = 1:56/100 yds (Video, not counting pauses)
Total distance = 1500 yds
Elapsed moving time = 29:02 (Video)
Avg heartrate = 145 bpm (Zepp, possible)
Relative Effort =  31 (possible)
SWOLF = 37
Avg stroke rate = 20 bpm
Avg pull distance = 2.42 yds

When I got home, I took a $40k distribution from my 401(K) for the year, including taxes. Had to go to NetBenefits, not the main Fidelity website, to make the withdrawal, which will be deposited into our checking account in a couple of days. I did my last batch of Christmas shopping in the morning over in CMR. Took Andy's cooler back to him, and we talked about a couple of cycling adventures including a gravel bike trip to Moab and the Palm Springs Century, which I'm going to sign up for. Had lunch and went for a 5k run down by the park in the early afternoon.

Avg pace = 7:49/mi
Total distance = 3.21 mi
Elapsed moving time = 25:09
Avg heartrate = 142 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 22

Watched some TV when I  got home and wrapped Ann's air fryer at the same time. Then I ordered tickets for the four of us to see The Sound of Music at the end of May as a Christmas present. Final task of the day was to scan in the pages of my original cycling diary in an effort to use AI to parse it into digitized text. First 10 pages of digitized output looked promising, we will see how much effort it takes. I paused this work before dinner (!) and finished scanning afterwards. I watched some TV before going to bed.
