12-29-2025 Swim

Slept fairly well (<>) and got ready for a swim after I got up. This included loading some music onto my new waterproof bone conduction phones to try them out. It was chillier than I expected on the ride over, nobody else in the pool right at the start, others joined during my workout. This was intended to be a distance swim, not much focus on form, just getting the laps in. The phones worked okay, probably need to boost the volume to make them easier to hear over the splashing from my strokes. I swam four 500s and then a 250, the last 200 using a pull buoy. Here are the times: 9:56, 10:00, 10:21, 10:23, 4:46. Elapsed swimming time of 45:26. It was easy to tell that my stroke length and stroke count were off, but it was also less of a cardio workout and more of an endurance workout.

Avg pace = 2:01/100 yds (Video)
Total distance = 2250 yds
Elapsed moving time = 45:26 (Video)
Avg heartrate = 160 bpm (Zepp, not likely)
Relative Effort =  98 (not likely)
SWOLF = 40
Avg stroke rate = 22 bpm
Avg pull distance = 2.02 yds

Had some breakfast, Paula's bread and coffee, trying out the air fryer toaster feature for the first time. So far, not impressive. Then I finished up reviewing Ann's selection of Airbnb units for our Vietnam trip. Later in the morning we went to Costco for Ann to get one of her hearing aids repaired. That is a weird store, just so much consumption going on. There are bargains, but you really have to look for them and avoid the notion of bulk purchases just for the sake of price. Watched some TV in the afternoon and spent a lot of time working on my cycling diary. Getting close to first review of the transcription, it's slow going. I found several places where Gemini hallucinated whole sections of the diary, can't figure out why. So there were a number of sections I had to get transcribed again, the second time usually solved the hallucination errors. In the late afternoon I drove over to OtB and had happy hour dinner with Emily, talking about a possible Hawaii trip as well as how work is going. Was fun. Came home and worked for an hour and a half to finish up the main part of checking my digitized cycling diary. It's looking pretty good, maybe just a tiny bit of cleanup left to do. Watched a little TV to unwind after that surprisingly tiring task.
