Got up early and got ready for a ride with John. I ate my Julian donut, then I took off. Rode through the neighborhood to Matinal Rd, turning left and heading up to W Bernardo Dr. From there, I took the reverse of the time trial route, including the climb up to HP, until I got to Poway Rd. There, I continued on Sabre Springs Pkwy to Springhurst Dr before turning right and riding up to John's house. This route is almost 2 miles longer than the route up Pomerado Rd, and I ended up getting there just before 7:30. Jayden was out front showing off his scooter braking skills. I'd asked John for a flattish route, and he obliged. We rode back to Springhurst Dr and took it up to Springbrook Dr, enjoying the nice downhill back to Sabre Springs Pkwy, where we turned left and headed over to Poway Rd. We turned right there and took it to Pomerado Dr, turning left and following this familiar route back to RB Rd. We stayed on the old time trial route past the high school and down the hill to Twin Peaks Rd, where we turned right and rode to Community Rd. Left there, riding up to Metate Ln and turning right to get back to Pomerado Rd. One last climb, the one on Scripps-Poway Pkwy, before we dropped back to his place. That last climb was slow for me, I could feel it in my legs from the previous day's exertions. He made smoothies for us, and we talked a little more about Jayden and his intelligence and lack of attention span. He speaks Mandarin and English, and he's continuing his Mandarin classes, which is excellent. John and Vivian will have been dating for two years in July (?), and their civil ceremony is set for August 8. Sounds like they go well together. I rode home slowly, following the normal route on Pomerado Rd to RB Rd, then a right on Bernardo Center and home from there. Definitely tired legs at the end.
