05-31-2024 Run/Swim

Had to psyche myself up for exercising on this day, not a lot of motivation. Did a good run around the park, over 4 miles at decent pace. On the way back, starting to climb up Aguamiel Rd, I caught the tip of my shoe on the sidewalk and went down, but I didn't get skinned up, just a little scraping (no blood) on the palms of my hands. I was up and running again soon afterward.

Avg pace = 7:37/mi (including that last little climb back up to the house)
Total distance = 4.17 mi
Elapsed running time = 31:51 (would be nice to get below 30 minutes for this route)
Avg heartrate = 134 bpm (Coospo, I was able to connect it to Strava), 158 bpm (Fitbit)

After I got home, I got ready to ride over to the WWC for a swim when it opened (last weekday before they move to summer hours of 7:30 opening). Really had to talk myself into going, and my stroke was labored for much of this swim, perhaps getting into something like a groove on the last 20 lengths. Finished the 2000 yds with standard protocol in a little over 42 minutes. Had some breakfast and coffee when I got home, then I met John, Gary, Brooke, and Stephen at RB Sushi for lunch. Stephen will be out of a job come October of next year, but he seemed generally fine, not too depressed. Brooke's job will continue pretty much as it is currently. John talked a little bit about his upcoming summer trip. Gary's legs have been bothering him some in the night, he's trying to figure out why and how to make it better. It was a quiet afternoon, Ann and I got the camping gear out and went through the list, since tomorrow will be a busy day and she's going out with Emily tomorrow evening. Blair came over around 3:30 to show me how to apply the special grease to the ratchet assembly in the rear hub of my bike wheels. It went smoothly, although putting the hub body back on was a little tricky, you need to ensure the interior spacers in the hub are all aligned. He's pretty stressed out about the HP site closing, as I guess I would be if I were in his position.
